Term 1 Reflection
26th May 2017
Since we're coming to the end of term 1, let's summarise what I've learnt so far in Active and Effective Citizenry! (AEC)
What was the best part about term 1?
Well to me the best part about term 1 was where the lessons required us to speak up to voice our opinions. I find it very useful as it helped me to become more confident and courageous to participate more in classes and lessons. It helped me find the courage to be more active in lessons rather than listen to other classmate's opinion. It also helped me be more confident in my believes rather than tagging on to other people's different views and agreeing with them silently. It also helped me be more open-minded to new perspectives and opinions from other people.
What was the hardest part about term 1?
For me, the best and hardest part about term 1 is almost the same as I found it hard to speak up in class. It was especially hard as there were many dominant and vocal minorities in the class that always voices out. It lowers my self-confidence and sometimes the things that the individuals voiced out is the specific idea that I had wanted to share to the class. Hence, it makes it very difficult for me to share my personal opinions as it lowers my self-esteem.
How can I apply what I learn?
I can apply what I learnt by actually doing something to change the little things around me. Such like hidden racism around me, i can start with little actions as little actions can change big things. I can start by discarding racists thoughts I have which will slowly change and influence the people around me and improve our community bonding in Singapore a bit more.
What else do I still want to learn?
I would still want to learn more on the current day events that are happening in Singapore or events that will affect Singapore in the near future. That will help me be more aware on Singapore's current situation and be more patriotic to my country.
And that is all,
bye-bye AEC! See you in Term 2! ☺
